It’s one thing to enjoy food through deliveries and a completely different experience when one hangs out with friends at a favorite place . Post unlock , one place that is buzzing again in Pune is FC Road Social . A few years into it’s launch , the full day dining’s  popularity is only growing and is easily the most happening place in Deccan area which is more or less central to Pune city.

There is an uniqueness in everything here from the ambience to the funny names in the menu. The entrance has a neon sign with a frequently used way of greeting and enquiring about each other in Marathi  i.e  ‘Kay Mhantos’ meaning What’s up .The entrance has also  colour of foliage spilling over . And through it one enters into a sprawling space with elaborate ambience , some of it in the form of inside seating while other an amazing outdoor space. From swings to high stools , to old style cots /palangs , the seating is unique .There is nothing extravagant , but the way everything is designed makes it quirky attracting young crowds.

Most of the menu here is worth recommending but something that should not be missed are paneer tikka, old school chicken tikka , mutton seekh, kheema pav , all burgers, Burmese khao suey and signature dishes like toofani paneer  and punjabi chole served along with roti/naan . The menu also has Chinese , Chaats , sandwiches , sizzlers, biryanis  and pastas. One of my favourite dishes which is not currently available is dabba chicken with Indrayani rice served with amazing chicken curry . The dessert menu is not elaborate with only four-five items on the list. But one can try Ramesh n Suresh an amazing duo of two five star bars deep fried and served with Vanilla Ice Cream .

Before the pandemic started , the menu was in the form of a thin paper roll , while the bill was given in a tin box with a funny word ‘Sadma’ which means shock. Clearly ‘Social’ understands the language of the youth ! But post lockdown everything is becoming contactless with digital menus and less touch points. These are small things but add to the overall experience and hope will return back once the pandemic is over .

Lockdowns have been boring for those who enjoy socializing. Post unlock FC Road Social was my first choice , a great place to hang out especially in groups so that you can enjoy a greater variety of amazing food on offer. Overall the prices are reasonable taking into considering the experience the place offers. Go for it !
