If Balewadi High Street is one of the hottest food destinations in Pune , then The Urban Foundry is one of the hottest destination at Balewadi High Street .With a rustic charm and an ambience in sync with a metal casting or a foundry unit , this Restaurant can’t be missed.
The menu is quite interesting with names linked to the foundry theme like Chote gear for small plate dishes, Bao vich Pao which consist sandwich, pao and pattice, Egg forging, Foundry Bhatti, The Salad Factory, The Large Foundry Thermodynamics, Thanda/Garam, Nuts and Bolts, The Urban Foundry Rasoi Vishesh in which they have their signature dishes and the lovely part Sugar casting with short list of desserts. The bar menu also had such unique names like Noble metals, Alloys, Base metals, poly atomic metals, core metals etc. The Spinach cheese pops we ordered is deep fried spinach balls with cheesiness inside and crispy texture. The taste was amazing. Next, we had Malai Broccoli from the chote gear section. Never imagined Broccoli could taste like something heavenly. It was so perfectly cooked topped with loads of malai. Dakshinyera Prawns was again a unique dish, prawns tossed in South Indian flavours gave it a spicy taste, Subz Tadka Pizza, was delicious with crispy thin crust base, Paneer Sholay Kebab tasted juicy and amazing. Virgin Pinacolada and Orange Juice is a perfect partner with these appetizers. Moving towards the main course we had variety of rice items like the Sufiyani Gosht Biryani, it is the most authentic dishes in the menu here. Just mouth watering! The Subz Bahaar Biryani is topped with variety of veggies which tasted quite different than what we usually have in other places. Now let me describe my favourite part. From the sugar casting section we ordered a lot of delicacies. Red Velvet Kulfi Duet, unique name and unique taste. Its rich red velvet texture tasted so delicious that I want to rush right now and have it again. Don’t miss out on this. Sugandhit Beer-A-Misu had a blast of Beer and it is superb dessert for the beer lovers. Last Dessert we had was Chocolate Cookie dough with baileys shot. It was again a unique dessert and tasted yummilicious. Head to this place if you haven’t already. It was a truly memorable meal.
The crockery and cutlery as well as seating tables have also been designed keeping in mind the foundry theme which makes the experience even more unique !
